Is Pacifism a luxury? Nonviolence is a terrible idea if your goal is immediate self-preservation. This week’s gospel reading mentions the pearl of great price - if you define a luxury item as something that comes at an immense cost, nonviolence certainly fits the bill, but it’s far from an indulgence available only to a chosen few.
